Sitting getting dusty?

PPS is looking for iPods/MP3 players and Digital Cameras

Any old Tech? Any old tech? Any, any, any old te…ch?

Well, we don’t need your old iron 🙂

Can you donate a camera to the school, working and suitable for using with SD Cards? From P1-P7, classes would like more for pupils to use. (Nursery may love too if sturdy build and good for developing fine motor control).

If you have any unused, suitable cameras, please do take to school after checking there is still a need (Just in case we start a deluge with this post as PPS parents and families are always so generous!)

ALSO – as part of being a Dementia Friendly school, we hope to develop the PLAYLIST for LIFE project in and through our school. To do this well, we are also looking for unused and working Ipods / MP3 players which can be donated for use. Launched in 2014 by Sally Magnusson, with her very personal account of the pathways created by dementia.

A moving interview can be found here Playlist for Life Charity and Sally Magnusson.

With the help of volunteers, we plan to develop a playlist for life with pupils and others in the village. A special connection between our lives, and music, is recognised to be very strong. More is shared in this wonderful film (trailer) and through this book. You may also be interested in this video clip with Dr. Maggie Ellis.

So – if you have suitable devices, which you would be happy to donate, please take these along to school, preferably in a small padded envelope.

Making a difference in small ways and many ways…..

FAQs re Rookie Rockstars coming to Pencaitland.

Review:

The audience would have to be competing with the kids for who enjoyed the Rookie Rockstars’ gig tonight. Well done to Glynn who hosted and compèred the show, to the unexpected stars on the night and the supeROCKstars on stage.

Loads of fun for all and great work from all last week too.

Christmas Wishes

A huge thank you to all parents, carers, grandparents and friends who came along to sing some Christmas songs with the nursery, P1, P2 and P2/3 this morning and who made it to our Christmas Assembly we hope you are now feeling very festive!
The staff at Pencaitland wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 11th January 2011.

Practice Makes Perfect

Can you remember how difficult it was practising an instrument on your own and feeling that you were never going to improve?

Can you help with Recorder practice at Pencaitland Primary School? We would like to support the recorder lessons that are being taught in P4 to P7 and we would you like your help. Could you spare an hour every month or so to help small groups of children with recorder practice? You don’t need to be a good player, just be available to help a group organise their practice time and progress. Our music specialist, Mrs Peebles, is happy to give tips and advice to get us started.

If you are able to help with practice, either at lunchtimes or after school, please return the form [PDF] or e-mail the following information to the school office, or speak to Dorothy Ogilvy or any members of the Parent Council.
