On Wednesday afternoon and evening the infant department performed their nativity play. The children worked really hard to learn their lines and the song words. Everyone was fantastic – well done!

Santa visits Pencaitland
On Friday P1 and P1/2 had their Christmas party. We played musical statues, pass the parcel, danced the Flying Scotsman and had some party food. At the end of the party we sang ‘ Jingle Bells’ and we got a lovely surprise when Santa paid us a visit!

Karate Kids!
P1/2 were fortunate (along with some other classes) to have a karate taster session today. We learned a variety of new moves and had lots of fun. Look how high we can kick!

Judo Fun
Today, we were very lucky to have a taster judo session. We felt really special wearing the judo jackets and really enjoyed learning some new moves. Some of us may even join the local judo club.

Active Learning in P1/2
This week the Primary 1 children will be spending the whole morning in class. A huge thank you to the Primary 2 children who have been so welcoming and a huge support to all the new Primary 1s.
In class, we have been doing a lot of active learning and visited the school garden this morning where we got a huge surprise…. The plants, flowers and vegetables that the children planted last session have really grown. We saw butterflies and bees and and the largest courgette we had ever seen! We are now looking forward to harvesting some of the vegetables and planting more in the next few months.

It is fantastic to have some new faces in the school. The new primary 1 children look so smart in their new uniform and have happily come into school every morning. All the children have shown enthusiam and have really enjoyed the activities. I am sure that they are looking forward to spending more time in school over the next week.
Puppet Shows in P1/2

We worked in groups. We made puppets. We drew the backgrounds and wrote the story together. Finally we performed it to our class.
Healthy Cafe
P1/2 did a project about healthy eating. We invited our parents into to visit our Healthy Cafe. We prepared vegetables, dip and a fruit salad. We showed our parents a power point about our project and then we sang the song Paintbox. We then served the healthy food. Everyone had a great time!
The Dragon Princess cafe
On the 6th Feb, P1 had a healthy cafe for all our parents and carers. We voted to decide on a name, and the name with the most votes was “the Dragon Princess Cafe”. We had to choose a menu, make a shopping list and go and buy the food from the Spar shop. Then we had to send out invitations, and get the clasroom all ready. It was really good fun, and we even told the customers some jokes from our joke book. Together with P1/2 we raised £65 to donate to the British Heart Foundation.
