The children were developing and showing off their football skills during a session on the pitch. They started off with a warm up game of fruit bowl which involved them matching the coloured markers into the correct fruit bowl and moving their bodies in different ways – running forwards, backwards and sideways. Good listening skills were being encouraged as they followed instructions in the traffic light game – they had to stop and start, balance their foot on the ball, jump over the speed-bumps and roll the ball around their bodies when they came to a roundabout. The best part was running with the ball close to their feet for good control, take aim and score a goal. They lasted until the final whistle blew. Next week we will play football at the zoo.
