The children had a walk down to Musselburgh Lagoons to visit with the local ranger. On the way they enjoyed jumping in all the puddles especially the big ones. Nick and the children went fishing with nets and found minnows, tadpoles and a very big stretchy leech – which we found out likes to suck on blood. We then fed the swans special energy food as bread makes them sick. We discovered that the male swan has a bigger bump on his nose than the female.
The children also walked to the mouth of the river and saw lots of baby ducklings who were leaning to swim.
The following day the children made a thank you card and drew a picture of their favourite thing from the outing to send to Nick the ranger.
