Ryan wondered what would happen if he mixed the colours of paint together, so we set up some painting experiments. Firstly we chose two colours and then rubbed our hands together and watched the two colours make a new colour. They discovered that red, blue and yellow were primary colours and we couldn’t make them but if we mixed red and yellow we made orange, if we mixed red and blue we made purple and if we mixed yellow and blue we made green.
Our second experiment involved us using the three primary colours and a salad spinner. We put some red, yellow and blue paint into the spinner, we the put on the lid and turned the handle to make the paint spin around inside. When we took the lid off we observed how the paint had mixed together to make orange, purple and green.
