P6a have been busy practising their skills in writing instructions. To make sure that they can write a clear set of instructions, they created games for their buddies to play that would help them with their maths skills (adding, sunbtraction and patterns). We made our games up and took them down to P1a to play them with our buddies – they were a hit! Well done P6a!
P6A were reading Wonder last term and with Connor they wrote some lyrics for a song about the book. They worked in groups then collaborated on a final version. Then they recorded it and decided to film a video to go with it. After a lot of ideas and editing, we came up with this!
P6A have been doing a lot of work recently on shapes and we had 3 stations to practice our shape knowledge the first station was a sheet asking how many vertices, edge and faces a shape has.
The second station had differnent nets on paper and you had to choose one net to cut out and glue together to mold a shape and we got to decorate them!
The third station had plastic 2D shapes with clips and we had to figure 3D shapes by clipping the 2D shapes together to create faces!
Our next step was creating our own nets from scratch using our knowledge of the faces of 3D shapes.
Here are some pictures of our shapes! :
In P6a we did some poppy art for remembarance day! We were focusing on our perspective and making it look like the poppy’s are disappearing into the distance! We drew a horizon where as the poppy’s were disapearing into the distance they got smaller and smaller and when they got “closer” they became bigger!
Here are some of our unfinished poppy designs:
