Caring for Living Things

Here at Levenhall our children have enjoyed visits from Mrs Lowrie’s dogs Sophie and Molly. The children learned some of the commands used such as ‘stay’ and ‘sit’ and were able to walk them and brush their coats. She then brought her baby lambs Speckle and Fudge who were only one week old. The children helped to make up the milk and feed them with the feeding bottles. A great time was had by all.

Recently both rooms have had the experience of watching the  tadpoles develop into frogs. They observed carefully every day and informed us of the changes. Thank you to Mandy and Don who have given the frogs a home in their garden pond.

We now have caterpillars and are awaiting the change into butterflies. Both rooms have suspended a butterfly net and you can see some of the chrysalis inside. Keep watching and you will see them change into Painted Lady butterflies.

Pancake Day

We celebrated Pancake Day on Tuesday 24th February.

The children made pancakes for snack, listened to the story of ‘The Big Pancake and heard about how countries around the world celebrate pancake day or as it is also known – Mardi Gras. We dressed up in colourful clothes, listened to carnival music  and had our own Mardi Gras Party.

Christmas in the Nursery

The children have been taking part with great enthusiasm in all our Christmas activities. Some children went to Strawberry Corner to buy our trees and they have now been decorated. We have been thinking about the very First Christmas when Baby Jesus was born and practicing singing our carols. We look forward to seeing everyone at St. Ninian’s Church on Wednesday 17th December at 11.00am and 2.30pm. We have made our Advent rings and are counting the days until our Christmas parties, on Thursday 18th December at 10.00am and 1.00pm, using our Advent calendars.
