20 December 2013
(amended Jan 2014)
We are now almost at the end of a year as well as the end of a long, busy term in school. We can reflect on so many positive events over the course of the term; from a variety of sporting festivals, financial education week, P7 Benmore trip, Africa extravaganza to the individual achievements of each child. It has been a fantastic term and we look forward to more amazing learning taking place in the new term.
We have had notification that the plans for the extension have been submitted. Work is expected to commence summer 2014.
Christmas shows and parties
Many thanks to everyone who was able to come along to one or both of the Christmas performances. The feedback from everyone I have spoken to has been extremely positive.
A huge thank you to Pinkie Parents for paying for all the Christmas parties. All the parties were a great success with children all enjoying a visit from Santa.
It has been brought to our attention that some children are playing chicken in front of cars on Pinkie Road. There is at least one child who came extremely close to being knocked down by a car; this being avoided by the driver of the car swerving and braking significantly. Every class has been spoken to and the huge danger of playing on the roads emphasized. I would ask that, especially with the holidays about to start, that you reinforce the dangers of playing on roads to your child .
We have also been informed that when there had been temporary lights in operation at the building site working cars have been observed going through the pedestrian crossing lights on red. Please again alert your children to take extra care.
Bikes and scooters
The have been a number of scooters and bikes which have gone missing from the bike shed in recent weeks, causing huge distress to their owners. Please can I urge you to make sure every child coming to school on a bike or scooter has a padlock and locks it.
Charity fund raising
Many thanks to everyone who has donated towards our charity fund raising over recent weeks. We have managed to raise a staggering £410.84 for the Philippines and £365.33 for Children in Need.
The next meeting of Pinkie Parents will take place at 7pm on Monday 20th January in the school. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The staff would like to wish you and your family a very happy time this Christmas. We all start back to school on Monday 6th January 2014.
