We have started to create a flickr page showcasing some of the great work the pupils create in the department. So far there are a some images of work created by s4, 5 and 6 for examinations.

PL Challenge

Degree Show Success

Working together Ryan McLeod and Ian Shiels have brought together their independent specialist skills to make a fantastic interactive video jockey installation. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to mix their own visuals and lighting show within a mini club in the exhibition space.

Ailsa Lawson’s taste for gore is manifested in her two-minute zombie flick “Dee Of The Dead”, which showcases her startling make-up effects and rekindles memories of 70s horror films like “Dawn Of The Dead”.

S1 Work – Colour Theory

S1 have been looking at the contrast effect of hot and cold colours, to create vibrant underwater landscapes.

Animation workshop

We held a two day animation workshop last week. This was very successful and some great work was produced. We shall post the animations once they are completed and we are aiming to submit them to the Scottish Animation Festival in May.

Congratulations to Emma Rollo, who’s fantastic drawing won 1st prize at the Peter Potter exhibition. She beat off stiff competition from several schools around East Lothian.

 Well done Emma – We are all very proud!

Silver from PL

Sarah Hutchison, a past Preston Lodge pupil, is currently taking part in an exhibition celebrating the best of Scottish silver. This is now showing at the National Museum Scotland. For more information visit the NMS website at http://www.nms.ac.uk/silver.aspx

Sarah left Preston Lodge in 2000 to study at Edinburgh College of Art. Graduating with a First Class Honours Degree, she went on to complete her Post Graduate and is currently an artist in residence at Edinburgh College of Art. Preston Lodge Pupils Exhibiting at Peter Potter Gallery

The Peter Potter Gallery in Haddington is currently holding its annual exhibition of pupils work from around East Lothian. A selection of Preston Lodge pupils, from S1 to S6, are exhibited there. Other participating schools include Knox academy, Loretto’s and Musselburgh Grammar.
