Former Preston Lodge pupils Josh Taylor and Paul Van Reitvelde, have been over in Dehli to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth games.
Paul was representing Scotland in the badminton and the team had done well in the opening stages. The team qualified for the quarter-final of the badminton and were unlucky not to qualify for the semi-final which would have given the team a bronze medal at the very least. At 19 there is high hopes that Paul will be at London 2012 and/or Glasgow 2014. Well Done Paul the School Are Proud of you.
Josh Taylor, also a former pupil at Preston Lodge was representing Scotland in the boxing in the lightweight category. Josh had a great start to the competition and was winning comfortably in his opening fights. As the games went on there was an excitement around Preston Lodge about Josh’s next fight.
Josh reached the final of the boxing and the whole school were gripped by the event. We had nearly 250pupils watching the final in the assembly hall and the whole school watching it all in other classrooms.
Josh was defeated in the final, but gained a silver medal which he should beextremely proud of. Well done Josh the whole school were behind and and really proud of you.
Preston Lodge High School’s annual Sports Personality Evening is nearly upon us. Pupils who have attended clubs have been given invites, which allows them and one parent to attend the evening.
The pupils need to let Mr Bennion know by Friday 12 March if they are attending and if a parent is also coming along with them.
Also on the evening we will have an auction and raffle as well as testing the audience knowledge on sport.
The event keeps getting bigger and bigger every year with more pupils attending extra-curricular sport. We would like as many people as possible to come along and help us celebrate the success of our sports teams this year.
The order for the school jumpers have been sent away now that we have collected enough money for the tops. They will be printed over the next two weeks and should be with us as quick as possible. I apologise for any hold up with the tops but with the company asking for this it was only way we could do it
Preston Lodge High School are in urgent need of new sports coaches.
Preston Lodge High School are soon to start a “Fit for Girls” class and are in urgent need for a Coach/Parent/Volunteer to take this class of girls.
The class will run on a basis of letting the girls chose the activities they would be interested in doing and doing them in a 4 week block or on a week to week rotational basis. This is to target all girls to attend an activity that will keep them fit and healthy throughout their time at Preston Lodge High school.
If you are interested please contact Mr Bennion at the school (01875 811170).
This is an exciting new opportunity not to be missed.
Preston Lodge are looking to start a Fit for Girls extra-curricular club after the October holidays.
This club would be after school and would be whatever the group wants to do.
The group can run the club and can change week by week, or the club can run in 4 week blocks of a specific activity then change after to another activity.
We are looking for as many girls as possible to be involved in the club. If you are interested in joining a club such as this, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Bennion or, leave a comment on this post, with your name and the activity you are interested in.
