Preston Lodge Football

Football at Preston Lodge High School is entering an exciting time with the U-15 Girls and Senior Girls in the last 16 of the Scottish Cup.

As well as this the Senior Boys team are in the quarter final of the Lothian cup against Royal High and have a derby match v Ross High on Monday 25 February. You can see there most recent match report on http://www.activeeastlothian.co.uk/news/preston-lodge-senior-football-team-524

The S1/S2 boys team have a match against Newbattle on Friday afternoon and have two 7-a-side tournament coming up.

Football Strips

Any players that have school football strips in the house must bring them in as a matter of urgency.

The red strips which only the senior players wear are missing number 4 and number 6. The black strips that the younger teams wear and the U-16 boys team wear are missing four strips.

The school teams need these back for matches on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Girls Football

There is two matches this week for Girls football. On Wednesday the S1-S3 have a Tournament at Pinkie. 4.00pm start. The ten pupils we are taking will be notified. we also need two parents to take cars down.

The senior football team are playing Creiff High School away on Thursday. The bus will leave at 1.00pm.

Both teams need shorts and sock and boots for 3G astro

Girls Football

The next two weeks the U-15s and Senior Girls football team have two football games.

It is important that all girls football players are at training on Tuesday 29 January and Tuesday 5 February. This will help us pick the squad that travel to the matches.

U-15 Girls v Mary Erskine Wednesday 30 January meet in PE at 3.45pm for a 4.30pm kick-off. All players need shorts, socks, trainers or boots and shin guards.

Senior Girls v Creiff (Away) Thursday 7 February. If you have any prelims on that day please come and see Mr Bennion,

S1/S2 4v4 Football

There will be S1/S2 come along and play 4v4 football on a Friday at Preston Lodge High School.

This is open to anyone in S1/S2 to come along and play. We are looking for minimum 12 pupils to come along and play on a Friday. This is a fun way to play football with your mates indoors during the winter weather.

If you are interested please come and see Mr Bennion in PE to register your name.

Preston Lodge Olympic Star

Josh Taylor former pupil at Preston Lodge High School has set on his journey to the London 2012 Olympics, where he will compete in the lightweight category in boxing.

Josh is one of the 541 athletes who have been selected for the Team GB side. He has already competed in the Commonwealth Games in Dehli in 2010 and this will give him good experience going into London 2012.

Preston Lodge and the local community are all behind Josh and wish him all the best for London 2012 and the future.

Dress Down Day/ Dress as a Sporting Hero

Friday 22 June will be dress down day or dress as a Sporting Hero.  Pupils are to pay a £1 for dressing down. This £1 will be put towards the schools Olympic trip where the four Young Ambassadors in the school will be attending.

All pupils please give the £1 to your register teacher on Friday morning

Extra-Curricular Clubs

All the extra curricular clubs at Preston Lodge are back up and running.

The clubs will run until the last week of school when the activities week will start. The clubs are:

Mon (3.45-5.00): S1-S3 Football & Golf

Tues (3.45-5.00): Muay Thai & Dance

Wed (3.45-5.00); Rugby

Thurs (3.45-5.00): Girls on the Go, Racquet’s Club & Gymnastics (Starting 7 June)

Fri (Afternoon): Surfing & Kayaking

These are fun clubs that will be non-competitive and a good way to get fit in an Olympic year. The rugby club will be participating in competitions so we need more players to turn up.

Extra-Curricular clubs in Term 3

In Term 3 Active Schools are offering new exciting club for the pupils of Preston Lodge. We have new opportunities to try new sports as well as some of our core sports that we play throughout the school year.

The sports we have to offer are:

Running Club,Football, Dance, Basketball & Rugby.

New Opportunities are:

Muay Thai, Golf, Girls on the Go, Tennis, Surfing & Kayaking

These opportunities are for pupils to experience sport in Prestonpans and out with in East Lothian. If you are interested about any of these clubs that will be running in Term 3 please come and see Mr Bennion in the P.E Department.

These opportunities will be in a fun relaxed atmosphere and is the perfect way to get some fun fitness and exercise.

Sports Personality 2012

Preston Lodge High School held their annual Sports Personality of the Year Awards on Thursday 22 March 2012.

The night was held to celebrate the success of our teams and individual sports stars throughout the last academic year.

On the evening we had Gillian Cooke, Word Champion at Bobsleigh. she gave a short speech on her career and answered questions from pupils on her sporting experiences.

As well as this we had Player of the Year and Most Improved Player of the Year for our teams. The winners are as follows:
