Former Preston Lodge Pupils a Success in Dehli
Former Preston Lodge pupils Josh Taylor and Paul Van Reitvelde, have been over in Dehli to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth games.
Paul was representing Scotland in the badminton and the team had done well in the opening stages. The team qualified for the quarter-final of the badminton and were unlucky not to qualify for the semi-final which would have given the team a bronze medal at the very least. At 19 there is high hopes that Paul will be at London 2012 and/or Glasgow 2014. Well Done Paul the School Are Proud of you.
Josh Taylor, also a former pupil at Preston Lodge was representing Scotland in the boxing in the lightweight category. Josh had a great start to the competition and was winning comfortably in his opening fights. As the games went on there was an excitement around Preston Lodge about Josh’s next fight.
Josh reached the final of the boxing and the whole school were gripped by the event. We had nearly 250pupils watching the final in the assembly hall and the whole school watching it all in other classrooms.
Josh was defeated in the final, but gained a silver medal which he should beextremely proud of. Well done Josh the whole school were behind and and really proud of you.
Well Done Boys!!!!
