Today we launch the ‘Success @ PLHS‘ site, which aims to share and celebrate all the successes of the Pupil’s of Preston Lodge High School, with the entire school. A new widget has been added to the side bar of the daily notices, and a site created here which has a continual flow of student successes as they come in. The widget in the sidebar cycles through the 10 most recent successes, but the entire record can be found on the success site.
Well done to everyone so far, and good luck to everyone!
Staff: if you’d like to share a success, add house points etc. please contact Euan Doidge (“firstname.lastname@example.org”)
The results from the previous polls, which pit rival subjects against each other, can now be found in the ‘Past Polls’ tab at the top of the page, and here.
Look out for the next poll, between Geography, History, Modern Studies and RME, which will take place after the February break.
World Cancer Day is marked on 4 February to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. It is led by the International Union Against Cancer(UICC), a global consortium of more than 280 cancer-fighting organizations in over 90 countries. World Cancer Day targets the public through global communications marking, and encourages policy makers and UICC member organizations to make cancer a political priority.
The campaign emphasizes that 43% of cancers can be prevented through these healthy behaviors:
- Provide a smoke-free environment for children
- Be physically active, eat a balanced, healthy diet, and avoid obesity
- Learn about vaccines for virus-related liver and cervical cancers
- Avoid over-exposure to the sun
Staff: Thanks for handing in the points for December on Friday – if there are still any more to come in, could you please send them to Euan Doidge (“email@example.com”) if possible, by the end of Monday 2nd February.
Just to let you know how we’ve pegged the points:
Pupil’s of the Month: 20 points each
Pupil’s of the Week: 10 points each
Pozzies: 5 points each
Feel free to come up with your own points tariff to suit your department etc.
Also, if you find it easier, you can email the points in as they happen throughout the weeks, instead of collating them all at the end of the month.
How can you earn house points? Different departments do different things – view the slideshow below to find out more!
