About Craft Engineering
Our Craft Engineers work in manufacturing environments using tools and machinery to safely carry out a range of tasks on complex products like submarines, surface naval ships, munitions, or aircraft.
We have many different trade disciplines to choose from including fabricator, welder, mechanical fitter, electrician, sheet metal worker, pipeworker, aircraft fitter and machinists.
If I was then offered an Apprenticeship, what would this involve?
Our Craft Engineering apprenticeships generally take three and a half years to complete. You’ll usually spend the first year in full-time training; learning core skills, before moving into a site placement within a specialist engineering team.
Switch on your career with us
As an apprentice at BAE Systems, you’ll gain valuable work experience, develop skills and be supported in your study towards professional qualifications – all whilst earning a salary.
Our employee networks, your team and your mentors will help you to develop connections and experience a fulfilling career. There are also plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in volunteering, so you’ll be encouraged to make a difference outside of work too.
