Scott Allan, Midfielder for Hibernian Football Club, is a very successful footballer who signed with Hibs last year. Did you know that Scott also has type 1 diabetes? Scott has offered to meet with some young people that have diabetes and talk to them about what it’s like being a successful footballer living with the condition. This year’s Young Enterprise Company, PLENTERPRISE will be selling their product – a fabulous Christmas Eve Kit – at the Young Enterprise Christmas Fair on Saturday 6 December from 10 am to 3 pm inside the Auditorium, Central Hall, 2 West Tollcross, Edinburgh. Come along and buy some gifts from the 31 Young Enterprise company’s who will be there on the day.

The guidance team have arranged the above visit above for students in fourth, fifth and sixth year.
The cost will be £4.00 per trip to cover the cost of the coaches there and back.
We will meet in LZ7 (in uniform) promptly at the start of lesson 1 (8.45). We should be back for the start of lunchtime, so students can attend their afternoon classes as normal.
The Skills Scotland event is aimed at students planning to go into employment, training, apprenticeships or to college when they leave school. We would encourage any S5 and 6 students with plans to do so or to apply for any of these as a back-up to university to attend, and S4 students who are planning to leave or might leave in the summer to attend. North Berwick High School Ukelele Orchestra
will be performing a free concert in the Preston Lodge Assembly Hall.
Come along a listen to this fantastic group playing lots of songs you will know.
The Persian Ladies are organising a ‘Dress Down, Wear Pink’ day on Friday 13th June, when staff and students are asked to wear pink and pay a £1. There will be prizes for the ‘most pink’ boy, girl, male and female member of staff. All monies raised will be donated to: Marie Curie, Rachel House, Kiltwalk, FACE and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
We also have a Father’s Day Hamper raffle – tickets from our main reception desk – 50 p per strip. This will be drawn on Friday 13th June.

Preston Lodge High School will host their annual Sports Personality of the Year Awards on Thursday 3 April 2014 in the school Assembly Hall at 7.00pm.
The event is held annually to celebrate the success of Preston Lodge High School pupils through sport. We celebrate the success of our schools team and individual successes as well as pupils who have been outstanding in other sports out with school.
Awards will also be presented to individuals from our school teams for ‘Most Improved Player of the Year’ and ‘Player of the Year’ award.
This year Sarah Warnock, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Long Jumper, will be attending the event to give an insight to her life as an athlete.
All pupils who participate in extra-currricular sport through Active Schools should have received a letter from Mr Bennion to be invited to the event. It is important to bring back the tear-of slip at the bottom of the letter so we know who is attending.

Preston Lodge is holding a fundraising Fashion Show on Thursday 6th March, with fashions from Next & Meg Maitland (ladies fashions- from North Berwick)& fashions created by our very own students.
We are also looking for donations of ex- Prom/ evening dresses as part of our ‘Redress’ fashions on the evening. These dresses would be modelled and auctioned on the night, with the owner getting 75% and our fundraising 25%. If you wish to hand in such a garment, it should be clean & in good condition. Hand in to the Home Economics department at the school.
There will also be a number of stalls and a raffle (including 2 nights B & B at a 4* London Hotel) plus many more prizes.
We are also looking for local businesses to advertise in our programme – a variety of prices for different sized page space. Contact details below.
