House Happiness Photo Competition

‘The Columba Management Group are holding a photo competition for House points.  The brief is ‘Happiness’.  If your photo is displayed in the Maths Social area you will receive house points.  Please submit photo’s with your name and house either by hand or by email to Miss Miller by the 16th December’.

Activities Week 2012 takes place during the last week of the summer term 25th-29th June. Pupils have been given a list of activities to choose from that they will participate in on the Monday to Thursday. On the Friday we will be holding a whole school event and barbque.

  • Pupils must return their activity choices form to their register teacher or school office by Wednesday 28th March. Please ensure the PC1 is also completed.
  • If pupils require more information about any of the activities on offer they should speak to the member of staff responsible for it.
  • Any other questions they should direct to Mr Lanyon.
  • House points will be allocated to the first three register classes in each year group to have a 100% return of forms.

Do you want to have a ‘mention’ published in the Christmas edition of exPLore?

If so, make sure you bring 20p with you on Monday or Tuesday as seniors will be coming round the social areas at break and lunch to gather your mentions.

1st and 2nd Year House Activities

Could 1st year students please remember to bring their PE kit on Wednesday 31 March for periods 5 and 6 if they have signed up for house sports.

Could 2nd year students please remember to bring their PE kit on Monday 29 March for periods 5 and 6 if they have signed up for house sports.

Please note, any girls who have signed up for rugby could they please sign up for another activity.

Congratulations to Mrs Robertson and Seton House, commiserations to Mr Stewart and Gosford, Mr McKay & Mr Main and Grange. The new House Cup will sit in Seton’s trophy cabinet for the coming year.

Well done to you all! A massive thank you to all the staff that helped re-start the House System this session. This year has only started the ball rolling – the coming year will see a new set of House Captains ready and eager to help you improve, maintain and perfect the system.

The task this year would not have been possible without all your hard work, and the achievements of all the pupils of Preston Lodge High School. Congratulations, and thank you.

43% of the Prizewinners attending the Prizegiving celebrations were from Seton House (29% for Grange, 28% for Gosford). 10 points were awarded for a Certificate of Distinction, 20 points for an Academic Prize. Getting both earned 30 points.

Dux of School Iain Richardson recieved a furthur 100 points for Gosford.

S4 Dux’s Brian Dickson (Go) and Neil Moyes (Se) were each awarded a furthur 50 points.

House Points: February

And an extra well done to Seton for winning the interhouse rugby tournament on Friday 27th Feb, becoming the first ever winners of the ‘Galbraith Cup’. Gosford took second place, with Grange trailing in third.

First Interhouse Sports Comp: Rugby Tens

The first interhouse sports event – Rugby Tens – will be taking place on Friday 27th February, from 12 noon to 2pm.

The teams for each house are made up from a mix of 4th, 5th and 6th years (although we are still looking for some 4th years to take part. Interested? Come to the S6 common room at break or lunch on before the end of Wednesday morning break). The final list of players will be posted on Thursday.

Feel free to come along to the Rugby pitches on Friday to spectate, and support your house!
