This was a slogan used by Scottish women 100 years ago as they campaigned for the right to vote. This Saturday (7th March) a series of free events will take place at Port Seton Centre , South Seton Park from 10am to 2pm.
The aim is to remember the part played by women Suffragettes in East Lothian in the struggle for the vote. There will be a range of free activities- banner making, finding out about the part local women played in the campaign, looking at historical objects from the time and various discussion/information groups .
So, if you want to learn more about how women in this area played their part to improve your lives – go along !
Preston Lodge are collecting Tesco Computers for Schools Vouchers. Vouchers can be collected in store from the 2nd of March. Please collect the vouchers and hand in to a member of the Computing or Business Education departments.
Could all S3 pupils check on the Noticeboard in the Business Education Department to see whether they have been selected to take part in the one day conference on Thursday? All participants should note their group and go to the Hall for 0910 hours on Thursday. Pupils should go to their first period class initially. The aim of the Conference is for students to develop their enterprise skills by working with professionals from the world of work.
Get doodling for fun and charity.
Next week pupils in the Art Department will have the chance to make their contribution to the Doodling world. You don’t have to be an artist to enjoy doodling, if you don’t go to the Art department you can still be involved, just get doodling.
National Doodle Day is about having fun while raising funds to help people whose lives are affected by epilepsy and neurofibromatosis. Since the very first National Doodle Day in 2004 over £120,000 has been raised to help support the work of two charities, Epilepsy Action and the Neurofibromatosis Association.
This money has been raised by schools, by companies and individuals who have put pen to paper and simply doodled!
See some examples of doodles submitted by Celebrities and the National Doodle Day winners from last year. Click the links below.
We will make a collection for the charities on Doodle Day (Fri 27th) – bring along a pound.
Hope you are all well on the way to starting or arranging to start your three sections of the award.
For anyone without a service organised, don’t panic, we can help.
