On Wednesday 6 June a competing Preston Lodge High School Pipe Band was officially launched.
At an event attended by well over 100 parents, students and friends of the school the band were resplendent in their new Preston Lodge tartan kilts. The kilts and accompanying uniforms were funded in part by the East Lothian Pipes and Drums Trust and by an Awards for All grant secured by our Parent Council.
The tartan itself was formally launched earlier this year, after S1 students Taryn Wood and Rebecca Foley won a school-wide competition for its design.
At the launch guests heard the band perform and heard a number of presentations outlining the band’s ambitions and ways of working.
The band will now play at a number of events before the summer holiday before embarking on their first ever competitive season in 2012-13.
