It is East Lothian Councils intention to undertake carriageway repair works on the eastbound direction of the A198 Longniddry dual carriageway.
In order to comply with the current health and safety legislation, it will be necessary to close the eastbound carriageway during the periods detailed below:-
- Monday 13th to Friday 17th January 2020
- Monday 20th to Friday 24th January 2020
- Monday 27th to Friday 31st January 2020
It is proposed to divert eastbound traffic via Cockenzie, Port Seton and the Coast Road as shown on the attached plan. Westbound traffic will not be affected.
Temporary traffic lights may be installed at junction of East Lorimer Place/Edinburgh Road Cockenzie to assist with traffic flows.

The East Coast bus services will do the following diversion East Bound only
School service 124 Will operate from Johnny cope to Longniddry via, Meadowmill Roundabout, B6371 Coalgate Road to Port Seton, Alder Road, Long Craigs onto B1348, Dean Road, A168 and then travel as normal back to the school
X5 & 124 Service buses Meadowmill Roundabout via, B6371 Coalgate Road to Port Seton, Alder Road, Long Craigs onto B1348, Dean Road, A168, then normal route to North Berwick
Seton Mains pupils
The pupils who normally use the school service from Seton Garden Centre and Seton Mains will be collected by taxi as follows:
