Does your child start at Preston Lodge High School in August 2008?

We are running a one day fun programme with all our new recruits to ease the transition to secondary school. Pupils working in register classes will take part in a range of activities will allow them to become more familiar with the school and the other pupils in their register class.

Please encourage your child to take part.

The letter and consent form have already been issued via Primary Schools but they are also available here.

5K Walk 2008 – Friday 23rd May

Following from the success of this event in the previous sessions we are once again gearing up for the 5km walk. This year the walk is associated with our whole school project “On-Our-Doorstep”. The route we will be following takes us from the school down to Lidl – Along the waterfront at the Power Station – Up West Lorimer Place on to the B6371 – Up lane to B1361 – Along to Preston Terrace then back to school.

In previous years this event has been really well supported by the community and we have had many adults assisting and participating.

Sponsor money is going to local charities and school funds.

The evening of Thursday 13th March; 2008 Sports Personalities Awards held in the school.

This is the 2nd year we have staged this event!!

Sports Personality of the Year: Auction

Our prestigious “Sports Personality of the Year” awards ceremony is nearly upon us.

On the evening of Thursday 13th March we will be hosting a night for the very best sporting talent in Preston Lodge High School, and believe me there is plenty to celebrate!

We are in fact having to limit tickets this year due to the great numbers taking part in extra-curricular sport.

You have the opportunity to be involved in our evening too!

We have got a great selection sports items to be auctioned.

  • A signed Manchester United shirt
  • A signed Scotland rugby ball
  • 2 tickets to a Hibernian FC match
  • A round of golf for 4 at Castle Park Golf Club (near Gifford)

How do I make a bid?

All you do is download and complete the 2008 Sports Personality Award Auction Bidding Form and hand it in to any of the PE dept. (or the school office, clearly marked for PE Staff)

Pre-Vocational College Courses 2008-9

Would your son or daughter be interested in undertaking a vocational course at college next year?  If they are in S2 or S3 at the moment, there are many different courses which could be appropriate.  All S3 courses are on a Friday afternoon, most S4 courses are during school time.  The courses are run by Telford College, Jewel and Esk Valley College, Oatridge College and The Shed vocational centre.  There are a number to choose from:

S3 courses 

Skills for Work (Plumbing,brickwork,carpentry, joinery)

Hair and Beauty 

S4 Courses

Painting and decorating

Rural Skills(Estate Maintenance, Landscaping, Employability skills)
