Will this mean definite closure of schools or can parents and carers put a stop to this happening?
Also will it mean building a school for all?
Regardless of what the plans are I will be objecting as I think its ridiculous to have the children go through all the upheaval of a move half way through a school year!
If this move needs to happen you’ve got 7 weeks during the summer holidays so sensible option is to do it then especially when you take into consideration the younger end of the children your planning on taking through this journey. School is like a second home with the amount of time some children spend there so I’m sure it would be an easier transition not to do it when they are planning to do it! Some children find a house move a dramatic experience!
Prestonpans Infant & Nursery School and Prestonpans Primary School will be closed with effect from February 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter;
A new non-denominational single primary school structure with nursery class and its associated catchment area will be established for Prestonpans with effect from February 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter;
The new single school structure will operate on a split site within the existing buildings and facilities for Prestonpans Infant & Nursery School and Prestonpans Primary School;
Children attending Prestonpans Infant & Nursery School and Prestonpans Primary School will transition to the new single school structure with effect from February 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Same School Sites, no new building. just operating under one new name rather then infant and primary, and i think it will have one head teacher covering the two schools rather than one each. So the consultation is to submit your ideas for a new name for the two school sites as a whole.
This does not mean a definite closure or merger of the Prestonpans Schools. The leaflet explains that this is a CONSULTATION to find out the views of parents, carers, children, staff and the community. Please come to the meetings to ask your questions, express your views and from Monday 20 August 2018, please do make your views known on the Consultation online link.
Whether the proposal goes ahead or not, the pupils will continue to learn in the two present school buildings and in the Early Learning and Childcare Centre. There is no plan for a new school to be built. Please do continue to ask your questions. It’s important that everyone understands the proposal so that you can come to an informed view. Ms Laing
