We had a lovely Quiet Assembly.
And then it was time for Wonderful Water Play and fun on the field.
Thank you Prestonpans for a wonderful 8 years. Go on from strength to strength with Ms Cookson. I wish you all a great future. Ms Laing
One our parents, Chris McCluskie, is a photographer and took these amazing shots of some of the P1 Sports Day. If you would like a copy of any of these prints, please contact him on email@example.com
Our school garden has become a rainbow garden. We also have a new rainbow Buddy Bench and renovated and newly planted planters. The Buddy Bench is a place to go and sit if you are looking for someone to play with. Thank you so much to all the people that helped with painting – P3a children and the Saturday helpers, who worked so hard. A special thanks to Mrs Stevenson who led with this idea.
This work has been completed as a place to remember our dear pupil Alex Logan, who would now be in P3. We are putting up plaques in school and in the garden area, with the blessing of Alex’ family, to remember Alex, who we loved dearly.
It’s Uniform Exchange week and we are short of uniform. Is it time for a clear out at home? We would really appreciate all donations of good quality used uniform. Remember, the current school uniforms will still be used for the whole of next session. Thank you.
For 3 weeks, we are giving our new P1 children tours of the school on Tuesday mornings, Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings. Last Friday 30 came to see round the school. We went to the gym hall where the P3 children were practising for the show. They were singing ‘The Toun O’ Prestonpans’. “That was so beautiful,” said a new mum.
Then we went to the staff room for a drink and snack. The new P1s sang our school song with our new name, “We are the Children of Preston Tower School’, followed by a quick Baby Shark song and dance. A great way to get to know your new school.
Mr Richerby has been asking a group of pupils from all classes how children can have more say in their learning. The group told the whole school that they think it would be good if teachers ask 5 questions at the end of a lesson.
1. What did you like about the lesson?
2. What went well in the lesson?
3. What did you learn?
4. What do you need more practice in?
5. What do you think needs to happen next?
Good thinking children.

If your family are experiencing financial difficulties, please speak to a staff member you feel comfortable with and ask them about our Summer Lunchclub for children. This provides a free meal and quality play opportunities throughout 5 weeks of the summer holidays. We are here to help.
Preston Tower Primary School is the name of our new school. The name gained the most votes in the recent consultation. Thank you to everyone who took part. 282 of the Infant School children voted for this name so it was a very popular decision when it was announced today. Staff were also very happy that Ms Cookson, our new Headteacher, visited briefly today and encouraged everyone to look forward to building the new school together. Ms Cookson begins on 3 June. I am leaving on 31 May. Ms Laing
NB Please note that there is no new school building but the school is becoming one school with Prestonpans Primary.
The children have had a great time. They are eating well, sleeping well and have enjoyed lots of adventures. All safe and ready to return today. Well done children and well done Mrs Graham and Ang. Thank you parents for entrusting your wee ones to our care for this great residential trip away.
