IS YOUR CHILD DUE TO START PRIMARY SCHOOL NEXT AUGUST?
IF SO, REGISTER
BETWEEN Monday 29 OCTOBER & 2 NOVEMBER 2018
We are now making arrangements for the admission of pupils to the first year of primary education in August 2019. If your child is five years of age before the end of February 2020, he/she is eligible to attend primary school. You should register your child before
2 November 2018.
REGISTERING YOUR CHILD AT YOUR CATCHMENT SCHOOL
Parents should take their children to the appropriate local primary school to register them. Please check with the school when to come. When you come to register your child, remember to bring your child’s birth certificate, your most recent Council Tax Assessment letter, and a recent utility bill dated within 6 months of the day that you register your child.
CHOOSING ANOTHER SCHOOL
The Education (Scotland) Act 1980 gives parents the right to choose the school their child will attend, and places a duty on education authorities to grant such requests wherever possible. Although most children attend their local school, parents may make an application for any other school under the management of East Lothian Council. Such a request is known as a non-catchment placing request.
Information booklets and non-catchment placing request application forms are available on line @ http://www.eastlothian.gov.uk/schoolenrolandplacingrequests
Non-catchment placing request application forms are available from the East Lothian Council website and from the Education Business Unit (details below). The closing date for non-catchment placing requests is 24 December 2018. Any requests received after this date will still be considered, but an early application is advisable.
If you want information about a particular school, please contact the school direct.
