Success At Rotary Quiz !

On Thursday 7th February four of our Primary 7 pupils took part in the Primary School Quiz organised by the Rotary Club and held at Craigielaw Golf Club. The quiz consisted of 8 rounds linked to the Curriculum for Excellence and the questions set by Rotary District 1020. Three other local primary schools took part. Our children did exceptionally well and managed to win the competition receiving a small trophy and will now get the opportunity to take part in the semi final against other schools from East Lothian which will hopefully lead to an appearance in the District grand final to be held in April or May. Well done!

The Scooter Club

We have been running a scooter club on Tuesday playtimes for P6 & P7 pupils. It has been great fun. Pupils practice scooter stunts and tricks.

We worked with Ruari Britee-Steer, from Space, North Berwick to design and build 2 ramps. We had those delivered to school today.

We have tried them out and can already manage to do some basic tricks such as the bunny hop, 180’s, cherry hops and manualling.

Anyone in P6 & P7 is welcome to join scooter club. Just remember your scooter and helmet.

Once again we are collecting Tesco vouchers this year. Over the years we have been able to trade in the vouchers for all sorts of equipment.Last year we collected over 8000! Vouchers have been available in store since Monday 12th March and will continue until Sunday 20th May.
There is a collecting box at the main entrance so please send in the vouchers !

A HUGE THANK YOU to all pupils and staff who raised £213 for UNICEF DAY FOR CHANGE last Friday. That amount will make a difference to the lives of young people in Uganda.

UNICEF Day for Change 2012 is this Friday, 3rd February. As we are working towards Rights Respecting Schools Status we are planning to raise money for this worthy cause by holding a dress down day. Children can wear their own clothes(no football tops) if they donate £1 to UNICEF. All money raised will help change the lives of children in Uganda through sport.

[nggallery id=5]Rugby

Prestonpans Primary attended East Lothian’s Tag Rugby Tournament on Wednesday 3rd November at Meadowmill. The Primary 7 Team put on an excellent display, and were successful in reaching the final where they met Longniddry Primary School. At full time the score was 3-3, but the children stayed focussed and managed to score the winning try. The school was absolutely delighted and proud to hear that the team were also presented with the Fairplay Trophy – an outstanding achievement!  We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dougie Thomson our cluster rugby coach who works with great enthusiasm with all our pupils.
