Sports Day and Queen’s Birthday Party

The department had a fab time today competing in lots of different races. We followed with our Queen’s 90th birthday celebration, burgers and ice cream and then our awards ceremony. We were joined by our helpers and volunteers for the year and parents and carers.

Bo’ness Trip

The whole department had a fab time at Bo’ness learning all about trains. What a great day!

Dougie the Drummer

The whole department had a great time yesterday when Dougie the drummer came to visit. We all had the opportunity to play drums, explore a didgeridoo, sing songs and explore other percussion.

If you’d like to find out more about Dougie’s great work and the experiences he can provide, take a look at his website.

Outdoor Learning

We all had a fantastic day yesterday down at Musselburgh lagoons on our 4th annual Outdoor Learning day. We all had the opportunity to go canoeing, cycling, learn bush craft with the East Lothian Rangers and use binoculars and a telescope for bird watching. The sun shone and everybody got involved.

Ross High Sponsored Walk

Today all the staff and pupils at Ross High participated in a sponsored walk. Our department walked most of it with a bonus trip to the park. We had a great time and the weather was perfect! A great achievement for all involved.

Pets as Therapy

We have been very lucky in the ASN department to have the lovely Katrina bring Ginny the dog in to work with us. Katrina and Ginny come in every Tuesday afternoon to help desensitise young people who are scared of dogs. Aiden used to be terrified of dogs, but now he walks Ginny by himself happily. Good work Aiden and Ginny!

Ginny’s other job is to be a reading buddy for reluctant readers. She’s clearly very talented!
