Elspeth Nicol 2W1- winner of Word Wizard in French!

On Friday, 30th May, Elspeth Nicol, 2W1, won 1st Prize in the National Modern Languages Spelling Competition which took place at the Scottish Parliament.  The competition was organised by Scotland’s National Centre for Languages (Strathclyde University) in partnership with St Andrew’s University. She was awarded a Trophy for the school, a Certificate and an individual glass shield award.

She has been working hard for months to learn how to pronounce and spell 225 words in the target language (French).  This is an incredible achievement for her to win such a competition beating all other contestants from all around Scotland!!!  Huge congratulations go to her and to Ms Gancheva who was her coach!!  Very impressive!!!!
