Enter the deep, dark, damp rainforest in our P1/2/3 classroom but beware of the animals that lurk there! We have been creating our very own jungle in the classroom with a canopy of trees, an understorey of bushes and vines and the dark forest floor. Feel free to visit us any time!
At Saltoun, we are celebrating World Book Day in style! We are hoping to raise reading engagement and enjoyment. The staff and pupils have planned a fun packed week, with a ‘reading event’ every day! The Book Fair will be available from 2.45pm – 3.30pm every day and will be manned by H2H.
Monday – Fancy Dress -pupils and staff dress up as a character from a book. Book Fair arrives in school and each class will be given the opportunity to browse. Family book quizzes distributed.
Tuesday – Parent Circle -pupils and staff will present a variety of reading activities to interested parents. There will be tea, coffee and biscuits. Parents could also bring a book from home that their child likes to read.
Wednesday – Bedtime Story – pupils come in their pj’s with their favourite bedtime story. Older pupils will read to the younger pupils. Primary Seven pupils will visit Border Books and purchase new reading sets for the upper school.
Thursday (World Book Day!) – Book Swap – pupils bring at least 2 books that they no longer want and swap with others in the school.
News update – well done £164 was raised for Water Aid.
A huge thank you to all the parents and community who came to support our Car Wash Coffee Morning! It was great to see so many of you there and we hope that you enjoyed the event. Thank you very much for your extremely generous donations, both before the event with second hand items to sell, and on the actual day. I would also like to thank all the staff, pupils and Pete who put an enormous effort into organising the event. Well done!

Yesterday pupils worked in groups to retell part of Jonah the Whale through song or rap. We then put it together in sequence to make Jonah the Musical. Pupils were really excited by the lesson and the results are great. Well done P1/2/3! You can hear us on the videos but be patient they take a while to load!
Just a reminder of the car wash coffee morning at Saltoun Primary School on the 6/2/09 from 11 till 12. Bring your car for £3 to get washed.
