On Thursday 3rd March it is World Book Day. At Saltoun we love to read and like to take any opportunity to celebrate this! We would like to invite parents to come into school for Family Reading at 9am. Parents/carers please bring your favourite children’s story (either from your childhood or a current book your read to your own child at home). You will be asked to read to your own child or possibly a small group of children at Saltoun. There will be refreshments provided afterwards and an opportunity for you to observe some of our other Book Day activities in the classrooms. If you would like to take part in Family Reading, please let a member of staff know.
At Saltoun we are proud of our excellent behaviour and very good manners. We follow the 3C’s – care, courtesy and consideration! In March we are recognising Manner of the Month, showing respect to everyone. We have made a bright display in our front entrance hall. Please help by taking part in Manner of the Month. The top 10 sticker collectors will receive a reward at the end of March.
On Tuesday 1st March it is World Maths Day. P3-7 are taking part in a mental maths challenge against other children around the world. Each game lasts for 60 seconds and pupils can play up to 100 games, earning points for their personal tally. Pupils can play beyond 100 games during the event, but points will only count to the World Maths Day Mathometer, not their personal point score. The students who answer the most questions correctly will appear on the Hall of Fame. There are 5 levels of play, 20 games on each level. All pupils have a login and password and we have been practising, before the big day, in the classroom. Pupils can also practice these challenges at home before Tuesday. The website address is www.worldmathsday.com I hope to see the results on the website increasing every day! Have Fun!
Due to lack of ticket sales this event has had to be cancelled.
Today, P1-2 said ‘goodbye’ to Finn Colledge, who left Saltoun Primary School. He and his family have moved to Peebles. We would like to wish him well in his new home and look forward to hearing how he is settling in to his new pimary school.
Good Luck and Best Wishes from the staff and all your friends at Saltoun Primary School
Today P3-7 were very lucky to take part in a badminton taster session. Mrs Black came to Saltoun and taught us some of the skills in badminton. We had great fun in the session and can’t wait to play again. Miss Brown has said that we can play some badminton in our P.E lessons. We would like to thank Mrs Black for coming along. 🙂
From now until the Easter holidays, P1-2 will be having PE on a Tuesday afternoon. We will go to the hall until the weather gets a bit warmer, so gym kit is required. We will be building on the work done last term by Mrs Dougal, the PE specialist, and will be looking initially at ball skills including throwing, catching, kicking, etc.
Please come along and bring those dancing shoes. Adult only ceilidh. Bring your own booze. Live Ceilidh Band and a wee fish supper at half time. All for the very reasonable price of £7.50. Tickets available from school office.
