Thank you to everyone for your fabulous bike entries to our ‘Decorate a Bike’ competition. The response has been Amazing. I am very impressed by everyone’s talent – far more creative than me! We ask our violin teacher to judge the competition this morning and the 3 lucky winners were:
Angus McCaskie P1; Sarah Gentle P4; Flynn Bronsdon P5
To me you were all winners! Please find pictures below of some of the entries.
We are now getting very excited about watching the race, the tour is due to come through the village about 10.50 – 11,15am so make sure you allow plenty of time to spectate!
4th September 2015
As the Tour of Britain approaches let me remind you of the events we have to look forward to next week. On Monday the children in P3-7 will have the opportunity to complete a cycling challenge on Fletcher Hall Field on a group of Mountain Bikes we have managed to borrow from Elphinstone School. All equipment will be provided for the children but please make sure they have a coat in school in case we have wet weather.
Tuesday sees our ‘Decorate a Bike’ competition. If your child is bringing a bike into school to enter the competition please can they bring it first thing in the morning. We will line the bikes up around the school playgrounds and judging will take pace during the course of the morning. Please can you make sure that you child has their name on their bike somewhere so we know who to give the prize to! We would like to keep the bikes to display around the school and Fletcher Hall for race day along with some bikes that Lee Young has very kindly decorated with flowers – thank you Lee. We cannot guarantee the safety of your bike, you will be leaving it at your own risk so please, if your bike is new or particularly valuable make sure you take it home with you on Tuesday night. After school on Tuesday any willing volunteers and I will secure the bikes on display at various points in the school grounds and along the railings outside school.
On the morning of the race we will be having an early break with a view to having the children in place to view the race by 10.30. Once again any volunteers to help us keep the children together would be gratefully received.
Can I thank you all in advance for your enthusiasm and support for this event.
On a different note your child will be bringing a leaflet home with them today in their school bags that informs you of the priorities for the School Improvement Plan for the coming school year. This was discussed and approved at Parent Council on Wednesday evening. If you have any questions regarding the leaflet please do not hesitate to come and ask me.
I wish you all a very happy weekend!
