Dressing Up for World Book Day

The whole school dressed up on Friday morning to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 6th March.  There were some great costumes.  Here are a few from P3-4.

book week in P1/2

We have looked at lots of story books this week and have done a lot of related activities like writing, painting and cooking. I can’t wait to hear about the children’s favourite books tomorrow.

Our Favourite Books …

This week, as part of our celebrations for World Book Day we have been sharing our favourite book and authors with the rest of the class.

World Book Day Art Work

After a busy morning at the Schools Singing Competition, where we did ourselves proud and sang beautifully well, we have been working in small groups to create Demon Dentist (by David Walliams) book covers with Mrs McLeod.

Stories from Around the World

This morning P3-4 welcomed Daniel Allison to the class.  Daniel is a local story teller who captivated the children with  his stories and songs from around the world.

A Stitch in Time..

This morning Kyle’s mum (Susan Cameron) came into class to help us create and sew a gift for Mothers Day.  Everyone did fantastically well as for many it was their first experience sewing. Thank you to Lee and Jill (who came to assist Susan). We are looking forward to seeing them again next Tuesday morning so that […]

Fun Athletics at Meadowmill

Last week P4 went to Meadowmill to participate in a schools Athletics Festival.  Everyone put lots of effort into throwing, jumping, running….. having lots of fun competing against other schools.

P3-4 had an enjoyable HATS Day making balloon powered cars from bits of junk.  Using empty pastic water bottles, straws and bottle top lids, we made cars powered by balloons.  Individually, everyone designed and made cars and then we held races. Maggie and Caitriona from Humbie were joint winners of the P3 race, while Murdo won […]

Angles Are All Around..

P3-4 started a new maths topic this morning.  We will spend the next few weeks looking at angles as well as position and movement. Today we learned that when two lines meet an angle is formed. We explored the angles all around us in the classroom and out in the playground.

Despite the Weather …..

Despite the weather P3-4 had a great morning in Saltoun Big Woods.  We played games (to keep warm!), completed a trail blind fold, spent time with Richard (the Ranger) and went on a treasure hunt – all the time thinking about team work and communication. We returned to school a little earlier than originally anticipated […]
