WW2 Tea Dance

Last week the pupils of P6/7 had a great time entertaining our parents with songs from Vera Lynn – We’ll Meet Again and White Cliffs of Dover – and dancing the Jitterbug!  Pupils came in costume from the era and staff got dressed up too.  They snacked on chocolate cake made with rationed ingredients….yum yum!

MP Visits Saltoun Primary

As part of our global citizenship project “Send My Friend to School” we had a visit from Mrs Fiona O’Donnell (MP).  We have been working on messages to send David Cameron and other world leaders on the issue of “Education for All”  We prepared presentations, refreshments(delicious smoothies) and questions.  Murdo P4 remarked: “she was down to earth”.  Another pupil commented on the fact they felt their opinion was heard.  Fiona told us about her work on this campaign and about her job in Westminster.  We grilled her with questions and she even told us her favourite sweet. You will need to ask someone from P4-7 for Fiona’s response!

Fruit Only Days

The eco committee have been discussing the idea of having some fruit only days for snack.  We first discussed this during health week as a way of encouraging our 5 a day of fruit and veg.  Yesterday it caused some debate.  Each rep was to poll their pals to gauge opinion.  Next week the Eco committee hope  to make a recommendation after their consultation.  What do you think have having a fruit/veg snack only day in school on a regular basis?  Would you commit to a 2 day week? 3 day?   It has been an interesting debate in class too.
