Safer Internet Day 2017
Safer Internet Day is an excellent reminder for us all to work together to create a safe environment for children and young people online. The Internet is a fantastic resource for young people and Safer Internet Day is a celebration of both the creative and responsible use of online technology.
For Safer Internet Day 2017, we are asked to ‘Be the Change: Unite for a better internet’. The UK Safer Internet Centre wants to bring people together across the world to celebrate the positive power of the internet. In the UK we are exploring the power of image – both for positive and negative – in digital youth culture.
Image and video are powerful tools of communication, self-expression and creativity but as we all know there can also be pressures, risks and potential negative consequences.
This Safer Internet Day we want to empower children and young people to have a positive time online, equipped with the skills, knowledge, confidence and resilience to communicate using images and videos safely and creatively.
