Following the successful ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ feast, organised by Saltoun pupils in January, it was the turn of Sanderson’s Wynd Primary, on March 16th, to host another book party for P3 and P4 pupils in the Tranent cluster. The highlight of the afternoon was meeting Aileen Paterson, author of the popular ‘Maisie the Cat’ books, who read her stories and talked to pupils of her experiences as a writer. As well as having the chance to mix with other schools, children participated in a fun-filled afternoon, with activities ranging from decorating and icing a ‘Maisie’ biscuit to finding out more Tranent Library from Marjorie and her companion ‘Lennox the Lion’.
Each month, cluster book ambassadors write a newsletter on their class literacy activities and send this to other primaries in the cluster.
