Scottish SPCA #fireworkSafety
You may remember that we recently invited all schools in Scotland to take part in our #FireworkSafety competition to raise awareness of how to #BeSafeBeKindBeSmart in the lead up to Bonfire Night.
We were delighted to receive over 350 entries from schools across Scotland. There were so many fantastic entries that it was incredibly difficult to pick just two winners.
Congratulations to…… Layla C from Lawmuir Primary School and St Modan’s High School’s autism provision class!

A wee polite reminder if your child/children are off sick we completely understand. Unfortunately we need to understand quickly who is absent / reason and if we have any missing children.
We would ask all parent’s/carers to proactively contact the school either via Email absences@sandersonswynd.elcschool.org.uk or call 01875610275 we have an answering machine that is available.

School picture day – UPDATE
School Pictures Update
Due to overwhelming demand for “family”/ Sibling pictures including siblings from out with SWPS we have come to an agreement with the Lovely Pamela who will be taking the pictures to have a separate Family/sibling session. Our picture day will now take the following format:
Thursday 1st September 2022 – All SCHOOL and HUB children will have individual pictures taken. NO SIBLING PICTURES WILL BE TAKEN
Friday 9th Of September 2022 – “FAMILY”/ Sibling Drop in session please arrive at school main reception for 14.00 (all children including past/ previous SWPS children and all Children with siblings in / outside Nursery)

P1 Class of 2022 – Stay and Play visit
On Tuesday the 19th of July (10.00am-10.45am) and Thursday 21th of July 2022 we will be hosting a stay and play session in the school playground. This will be a chance for your child to play and meet with other P1 pupils, children who attend SWPS Nursery will be attending these sessions. If unfortunately the weather doesn’t look great please keep a look out for Twitter updates from the nursery team, we will attempt to email out to all parents also. The Nursery team do have access to a mobile number in the holidays, if you have any questions about the stay and play session, please call 07718662056* as you can imagine, staff are with the children so it may not be answered, if this happened please leave a detailed voicemail and someone will contact you, when they can.
Summer Reading Challenge
Dear parent/carer – as part of pilot scheme to increase literacy attainment in East Lothian your child’s school is taking part in an enhanced summer reading challenge pilot. All information is contained in the attached leaflet.

Have you taken advantage of the FREE bus travel for U22
You may be aware that from the 1st February this year, from the ages of 5 to 21 all young people in Scotland are entitled to Free Bus Travel.
For those under 16 Parents or guardians need to apply on behalf of their children.
The easiest way to complete this is printing off these forms (linked below ) and popping down to your local library or area office for the Customer Services team to process it for them.
with school holidays every 6 weeks throughout the year and the cost of Fuel going up , its the perfect time to utilise this benefit we have in Scotland.

Nursery Graduation Ceremony
Nursery Graduation Ceremony
We are having graduation ceremonies for the preschool children moving on to primary 1 in August. These will be on Tuesday 21st June for the Monday/Tuesday children and Thursday 23rd June for the Wednesday/Thursday children. Both ceremonies will be starting at 2pm and the families of the children moving to primary 1 are very welcome to join us. The ceremonies will take place in the gym hall so please enter through the main entrance of the school. Please do not attend if you’re experiencing any covid symptoms.
