Counting Beans and Creating Jack’s World

Today the Squares Numeracy group worked together in pairs to count  beans. They decided that it would be fastest to count them in twos and worked out how to arrange them to count them easily.

Today we also started building the facade of Jack’s cottage. The children made observational drawings of the grain patterns on our wooden cupboard doors to create the wood for Jack’s timber-framed cottage.  They then wrote in their daily journals about the fantastic cottage they have been constructing. Some pictures of this will follow tomorrow!

Heather has requested me to respond on your blog. My name is lesley Boyd and our family are old old friends of Heather’s family. We used to live in South Africa and have since returned with our children to live back in perth Western Australia. We have just had a public holiday here called Australia Day. What a day. Everyone dresses up and carries the Australian flag everywhere and because the weather is so so good in Perth, we have barbecues in the back garden with all our friends. What a day. If there is any more information you would like about the West coast of Australia, please let us know and we will respond.
