The boys and girls of P6/7 have started the year strongly, carrying on the great work they did in P5 and P6. Click on the link below to hear more about some of the writing skills the pupils have been working on, as well as 3 examples of Big Write stories written by boys and girls in the class!
The boys and girls of P6/7 have been working tirelessly on their writing skills since the start of the year. Although there is still a long way to go, we have looked at:
- Strong openers (speech, action and description)
- Connectives (time connectives and example connectives)
- Adjectives and up-levelling
- Figurative language (similes, metaphors, alliteration, personification, hyperboles, idioms, oxymorons and onomatopoeia)
Most recently we were working on a Big write entitled “The Witches’ Tree” which was inspired through our Roald Dahl topic. The pupils of P6/7 created paintings of a tree, having been given the description to work on. They discussed appropriate colours and details that would give their pictures real atmosphere. They then used the completed paintings as the setting for their Big Writes. Please see the attachments below to read a selection of our work (two recent examples and one from the end of last year!)
