Dear Parents and Carers,
The period of consultation regarding the budget for East Lothian Council, which covers the next three years, has now closed.
If you click on the link below you will find the response made by our Parent Council to these proposals.
Many thanks to all of you that signed up in support. All of your responses, and there were many, have been included in our return to East Lothian Council.
In addition, we have forwarded this letter to our own local councillors, the Education Convener and the leader of East Lothian Council to make our views known.

Here are the dates of our Parent Council meetings this school session.
Your Parent Council would like to draw your attention to the following consultation process which is underway within East Lothian.
“A major community consultation exercise has been launched to allow residents and local groups in East Lothian to express their views on how the Council should be spending its money over the next three years.
“You pay… now have your say!” is designed to give local people the opportunity to set out their own priorities when it comes to maintaining and improving local services and facilities in their area. East Lothian Council is asking residents if they think that public money could be spent more wisely, to keep the council tax down or to divert funds to more pressing needs.
The Parent Council feel that it is important that parents express their views on these proposals as we have concerns about the impact the proposals could have on the education and welfare of our children at St. Mary’s.
The Parent Council would ask that you take the time to review these proposals and make a personal response. The consultation ends by 19th December 2008.

In our report you will find detailed self evaluations of 11 of the 30 quality indicators described in Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education (HMIe) publication, ‘How good is Our School 3’.

This year there is a proposal to change our constitution and we are seeking your acceptance to the changes at the AGM.
We feel these are required following a review of our first year experience. Changes are marked within the document.
