As part of our Topic on Keeping Healthy and Safe we have been learning our addresses. Today we wrote down the numbers of our house. We worked together to put our numbers in order from the smallest to the biggest.
We had quite a few missing numbers. So we worked in groups to work out and write the missing numbers. We did it in groups of 1-10, 11-20, 21-30,31-40 and 41-50 because Anna’s door number 49 was the biggest we had.
Mrs McHugh then gave us an extra challenge ‘Can you write down the numbers from 51-100 in sets of 10?’
We know that each letter has a sound and a name. We have been learning to recognise Capital Letters and match them with Lowercase Letters. We played ‘Pass the Hat of Letters Around’ and when we picked out a capital letter we had to tell everyone its sound and name and match it up with the lowercase letter. We listened to Mrs McHugh calling out the name of a letter and we had to find the capital and colour it. One of our Busy Bee activities was to match the capital letters to the lowercase letters. We all did very well!
At home when you are reading perhaps you can ask your child to find capital letters in the story and tell you its name.
Primary 1/2 have been learning how to add text on the computer. We know how to put a finger space between our words using the Spacebar and how to use the Backspace if we want to ‘rub something out’. We can add a Capital Letter and a Full Stop.
I’ve been trying for the last few weeks to upload some of P1/2s work onto the website but have been experiencing some problems. But Mrs Stewart has sorted them out for me and given me some tips so better late than never!
