P2/3’s Eye-popping Two Weeks

We had a super time during our school sports day. We are so glad it didn’t rain and we got to complete all of our races. Well done to all of the winners. A special well done to all the mum’s and dad’s that took part in the adult race.

Last week we measured how much water was in our rain gauges. It was interesting to see which group had the most water depending on where it was placed in our courtyard.

This week we planted some cress seeds. They are already growing nice and green!!

We talked about primary colours (red, blue and yellow) then did some experimenting to see what different colours we could mix together. These colours are called secondary colours (purple, green, orange).

Lots of primary 2 started to read their very first AR book this week. Our lovely primary 3’s helped them find their way around the big library and some of the p2’s even took their very first book test.

We enjoyed the ceilidh during the week! We had lots of fun dancing and hope everyone got home safely before the rain and thunder started!

See you next week!!

P2/3’s Rainy Week

We made a rain catcher. Some of us brought in plastic bottles and we cut off the top part to make a funnel and cello taped the funnel upside down to help the rain run in. We put rain catchers outside in the St Mary’s courtyard.

We finished our minibeast posters. We worked in groups to find out information about different minibeasts and had four questions to answer then we had to write our facts onto a poster with a good title.

This week primary 2/3 finished James and the Giant Peach. We really liked this book as it was funny and exciting for us to listen to.

Miss Torley was very proud of us all this week especially during our fruit tasting afternoon. All of primary 2/3 tried six new fruits. We tried some mango, papaya, passion fruit, physalis, pomegranate and sharon fruit.

See you next week! 🙂

P2/3’s Roasting Week

We have survived the hot weather this week in school and are hoping that we have this nice sunshine over the weekend!

We drew line drawings of minibeasts to put on our minibeast wall, next week we are going to research them and put lots of facts on our wall.

In groups we created some food chains. We know what the arrow in a food chain means and can say what the producers, consumer, prey and predator is.

P2/3 are learning about fitness in gym. We are working on our speed, stamina, strength and reaction times.

See you next week 🙂
