“You pay…now have your say!” consultation process

Your Parent Council would like to draw your attention to the following consultation process which is underway within East Lothian.

“A major community consultation exercise has been launched to allow residents and local groups in East Lothian to express their views on how the Council should be spending its money over the next three years.

“You pay… now have your say!” is designed to give local people the opportunity to set out their own priorities when it comes to maintaining and improving local services and facilities in their area. East Lothian Council is asking residents if they think that public money could be spent more wisely, to keep the council tax down or to divert funds to more pressing needs.

The Parent Council feel that it is important that parents express their views on these proposals as we have concerns about the impact the proposals could have on the education and welfare of our children at St. Mary’s.

The Parent Council would ask that you take the time to review these proposals and make a personal response. The consultation ends by 19th December 2008.

This year there is a proposal to change our constitution and we are seeking your acceptance to the changes at the AGM.

We feel these are required following a review of our first year experience. Changes are marked within the document.

You can view the proposed constitution by clicking here : parent-council-constitution-draft

Welcome back!

We hope you have all had a good summer break and are looking forward to the new term.

We will be arranging the Parent Council AGM for some time in September, so please watch out for the date and feel free to come along. Everyone is very welcome.

Remember, becoming involved in the Parent Council is one way in which you can get more involved in the life of the school.
