This week, we have learnt about the partial solar eclipse. We learnt this by having a telescope and using it to project the sun and moon onto a piece of paper, so then we could see the moon passing over the sun.
In writing this week we have been writing stories in pairs to create a story with a genre we don’t normally write about. We had fun working in pairs, which we got to pick ourselves, because we got to combine each other’s ideas.
In maths we have been looking at the connection between percentages, decimals and fractions e.g. 50% = 0.5 = 1/2. We also made our own fractions chart which helps us to understand fractions.
We have been doing lots of games and challenges to try and improve are working memory for mental maths. We played games which helps us to visualize different number patterns. We played games, such as stop the bus, guess my number, target and table patterns. We learned that if you know your number bond quickly to 20 or 10 then you ca do any number because it is the same formula.
For our new topic, ‘Comparing and Contrasting India and Scotland’ through landscapes, weather, people and habitats, we have been looking at artefacts that people from different religions use in India and Scotland.
