Last Thursday evening, Emma Smith and Mrs Legge attended the East Lothian Council Star Awards. Emma had been nominated for the Council Worker of the Year Award for her outstanding commitment in her role as Classroom Assistant at our school.
Here is an excerpt from her nomination:
‘ Emma works with all the children in this small school on an individual and group basis, often finding new methods and approaches to support children with particular learning needs.
She is dedicated, enthusiastic, creative and committed, throwing energy and initiative into everything she does.
Besides her work in the classroom, Emma uses her skills in everything from making costumes for school plays to painting designs in the playground and even putting up shelves! A true all-rounder.
All the pupils and staff team at Stenton are thrilled and very proud that Mrs Smith was selected from three finalists to receive the award. Mrs Smith admitted to feeling just a little nervous as she went up onstage to be presented with the award!
Our staff team at Stenton may be small in number, but this award demonstrates just how important each and every person here is in maintaining Stenton Primary as the fantastic learning environment that it is for all of our pupils.
