Stenton Primary school entered their P5-7 team into the East Lothian Schools Cross Country Event on Monday 30th March. Everyone tried their best with both the girls team and the boys team all finishing with personal best times. Alisha Mallen (P7) was the first girl in the small schools girls race. She was third last year and was determind to beat that this year-well done Alisha! And well done to all who took part and represented their school. The children were an inspiration to all. A great event.

Maths Easter Egg Hunt

This morning, all the children took part in our Maths Easter Egg Hunt in the playground. The children had to find 10 coloured eggs and correctly answer the maths question inside each egg. The children who managed to correctly answer 9 or 10/10 of the questions chose a prize from our star box.

Partial Eclipse at Stenton

This morning we were so lucky to have two of our Dads – David Anderson and Clovis Younger – come to school and set up their telescope so we could all safely watch the partial eclipse of the sun.

Thank you so much to David and Clovis for giving up their morning so that we could enjoy this momentous occasion. The children and staff really enjoyed the experience.

BIG SCHOOLS BIRDWATCH AT STENTON

Big Schools Birdwatch! Friday 13th February

The whole school joined in today with the annual bird-watch for the RSPB. Over the past few weeks, our bird-feeding taskforce have worked together to ensure that we have plenty of bird-feeders around the school grounds and that they are regularly topped up. This meant that we had lots of bird visitors this morning.

The children spotted robins, sparrows, great tits, blue tits, blackbirds, crows, chaffinches and pigeons. We worked in small groups to record how many of each different species we saw at any time.

This is the second time we have taken part in the bird-watch. The children are becoming more confident in identifying different species. The bird-feeding group will upload our results onto the RSPB website shortly.
