Rendering works to the school

 Dear Parent/Carer,

Re: External Render Repairs & Associated Works to St. Martin’s RCPS

With the support of the Parent Council and our local councillors we are working closely with East Lothian Council to ensure the maintenance of the school building. A meeting went ahead on Monday 4th December with the contractors for the work and now plans are put in place for the rendering of the building.

Phase 1 of the works will commence Monday 11th December 2017 and be completed by Friday 9th March 2018. Phase 1 of the works will include all works to remaining Elevations and this is to be undertaken in such a way that only a part Elevation is enclosed at any one time in order to undertake render and associated works. This is to ensure segregation between the works and the staff/children and members of the public.

To ensure the health and safety of all children, parents and staff the back school gate (St. Martin’s Lane) will be closed throughout this period as this area will be for works access and any resources that they will need to use to complete the works necessary. I ask that everyone gains access to the school via the front school gate.

Phase 2 of the works will commence from Monday 12th February 2018 to Monday 19th February 2018. Phase 2 of the works will involve the site set-up (including site compound, welfare facilities, erection of herras fencing etc), the erection of scaffold to the Main Entrance Area and the undertaking of render works to this area including the lead work and other high level work to the parapet. This will also include the works within the Nursery Playground Area. This Phase will also include the dismantling of scaffold and making good the Entrance Area. This phase of work will be carried out during the February break to minimise disruption to the school.

All measures have been taken to ensure the safety of all children in the school during this time of works being carried out in the school. Any changes to the playground areas during breaks and lunches are carefully planned. Any information or updates that I have will be given to you to ensure effective communication between home and school.

Kind regards
