Please read this story with your child, focusing on the 9 reading activities from page 3 in the Read, Write, Inc. books.

I have attached a list of questions that you may like to ask your child at the beginning, middle and end of their reading. Sorry if you already received this from the Meet the Teacher night.

Complete this week’s spelling words by using the spelling words in a written sentence. Please also practice the red words in the Read, Write Inc. books.

For the next three weeks in Maths we will be exploring Shapes and Patterns. Go on a “shape hunt” to find 2D shapes and 3D objects in your home. Please record the shape found, and its name in the home learning books. For example, drawing an orange from the fruit bowl and labelling it as a sphere.

We are starting a brand new writing program across all grade levels at St. Martins. It is called Big Writing in which children will have the one writing topic to explore for the week. This week’s Big Writing topic is the choice of a real or imagined adventure for a place they have visited. Please have a discussion with your children about this topic as they will be writing about it on Thursday. This does not need to be recorded in the home learning books.
