P4 News

Primary 4 have been working really well this term. We have been learning about ‘Our Community’ and our rights and responsibilities within it, we even had the local Policeman come in to chat to us. We also studied different inventors and inventions to present at our class assembly. In class we have designed and created our own inventions for the future, we made these using recycled junk that we collected.

Our new science topic is ‘Identifying Living Things.’ We have been learning about the different invertebrate groups and many of the children have brought little creatures into the classroom for us to examine. We will also learn about the vertebrate groups when we visit Gorgie City Farm on Tuesday 15th June.

We have been focusing a lot on writing recently and Primary 4 have shown a great improvement in the different genres and styles of writing.

The P4 Book Party members went to Sanderson’s Wynd Primary school on Wednesday to discuss the books they had read and to watch an interview with Julia Donaldson. They even attended a Mad Hatters Tea Party and said they had a great time!

We don’t have long until the summer holidays but I’m sure Primary 4 will keep up the good work!

P2 – New Term

Primary 2 have now settled back in to the new term.  This term we very excited to be learning all about our local environment in our new topic ‘The Street’.  In the next few weeks we will be going out and about to learn about Tranent.  So keep an eye out!  We have also started our new science topic ‘Looking After Living Things’.  We have been finding out lots of interesting facts about plants and animals and can’t wait to have a go at growing our own plants!  If anyone has any expertise in our new topics we would love to hear from you.

P2 Christmas Celebrations

Welcome to the Primary 2 blog.  We are very excited about the festive season and have been doing lots to celebrate this special time of year.  We did a fantastic Christmas assembly last week celebrating all our favourite Christmas traditions including Rudolph the red nose reindeer and the birth of Baby Jesus.  We have also worked very hard on the Christmas Nativity, ‘Jesus in a Manger’ and earned a well deserved 10 for our perfect performance. We can’t wait for our Christmas party where we can let our hair down and have lots of fun!
