Primary 6 and Primary 7 have been given the challenge of designing and building a BUG HOTEL for the St Martin’s Eco Haven Garden.
Bugs and bees and creepy crawlies all need somewhere to rest, eat, sleep and nest. Somewhere that they can call home.
So, we are going to build them a habitat out of old pipes, bamboo canes, straw, old terracotta pots, plastic pots, old broken bricks and some pallets.
The build will be happening THIS WEEK and Primary 6 and Primary 7 would be most please if anyone could donate any of the above items to help us!
We have lots of materials to get us started but if anyone would like to donate any materials please drop Mrs Hayes an email or pop in and have a chat.
Many thanks for you help. Below are some photographs to give you some inspiration.
The Eco-Committee attended the 5th School Sustainability Summit in Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School this week. The group gave a presentation of the work being done in St. Martin’s at the moment. The children were enthusiastic and spoke well. They did a great job of representing St. Martin’s! Well done everyone.
A massive thank you to Scotland Gas Networks and Josh Miller of Aspect6 furniture for building our Eco Garden fence for us today.
Josh and the gas engineers were all volunteers……….. and what a result!!!!
Thank you so much!!!!!!
R.P Slight, Joinery of Wallyford provided all the wood for the fence free of charge – so a MASSIVE thank you to them!!!!
Many thanks to our Parents and Carers who donated a fence post and mix – we couldn’t have achieved this without you.
Please let us know what you think……
Mrs Carlyle
Hey every thing is cool and it is WASTE WEEK! and we are collecting bottle tops and some people are bringing them in and we are doing a book swap on Friday. If you have any spare books please bring them in.
We are also making a piece of art outside the school
out of the spare bottle tops from bottles.
Priamary 4 are doing a compost bucket where if you have any orange peals or banana skins you put them in the compost bucket.
We are trying to stop waste in the dinner hall and you put your dinner band on your wrist if you loose your band you have to go to the end of the queue or ask for one at the dinner hall.
Thanks for listening
Lucy and Stefan – The Eco Warriors.
