Nursery Visit to Newhailes
Thank you to all our parent volunteers who helped us during our visit to Newhailes. We had a great morning with the pre-school class and managed to see a Robin and a Woodpecker. The ante-pre school were not quite so lucky with the temperature but had great fun all the same making fairy and elf houses and flying over the Forth on their magic carpet.

Dirleton Castle Visit
Firstly, thank you to all the parents that helped out and accompanied us to Dirleton Castle. The children seemed to have had a great time and during Gather Round this morning they were able to share lots of their learning. The talked about the “stinky” moat, the Knight they met and how he had shot arrows out of his bow, horses that trampled people in battle. The also mentioned the “Doocot” and the rat course that ran around it to stop the rats eating the pigeon eggs. The boys seemed to particularly like visiting the prison pit!! Below are a few photographs from our day.

A Big Welcome
It was great to see all the morning children back and settling in again easily. This was despite the fact that there was a new and unfamiliar face for them to get to know! That would be me, Mrs Shona Walker, Nursery Teacher.
I am really looking forward to getting to know all the children and to working with the Nursery Team to make sure that your child has a very positive learning experience in the nursery. As a Nursery Team we have lots of ideas for the coming year and the children have already suggested the first topic that they would like to learn about through their role play and dressing up – more details to follow!
This week we welcomed a number of new afternoon pupils and over the course of next week we will meet more of our new ante-pre school pupils. We are all looking forward to getting to know each other.
Please feel free to contact the Nursery Team (Mrs Shona Walker, Mrs Linda Banks, Mrs Wendy Shiells or Ms Louise Irvine) if you have any issues, concerns or ideas.
Don’t forget to leave us a comment if you’d like to share any feedback.
