On Thursday 20th October, NHS Lothian will be running an ‘Introduction to Sexual Health and Wellbeing’ course at Liberton Hospital, Edinburgh.
The aim of the course is to introduce basic information about relationships, sexual health and wellbeing, and to provide a space for participants to consider the wider influences on sexual health. Across Lothian great importance is placed upon the need for people to receive consistent messages about sexual health and wellbeing. This course is underpinned by a clear value base and the Lothian key messages.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain:
This course is aimed at people working with any age group in the statutory or voluntary sector who require some basic information on sexual health and wellbeing to help them work more effectively in their current post or volunteering role, or those who require a refresher course to update their knowledge.

This Early Years Information Pathway is designed to guide professionals through the national information resources that are available to facilitate discussion and effective communication with parents and carers. The pathway covers pre-birth to preschool, building on the resources outlined in the Public Health Toolkit within the Universal Health Visiting Pathway in Scotland distributed by Health Visitors, but in addition highlighting the national resources distributed by Maternity Services / Family Nurses. This provides professionals with a complete overview of all the contact points from both Maternity Services / Family Nurses and Health Visiting.

Scotland’s Mental Health First Aid offers basic general information about mental health problems. It will help to remove stigma and fear and give participants the confidence to approach a person in distress. . The skills developed through attending this course is an initial response to distress until other suitable or professional help can be found. The course will not train participants be mental health workers

What: We are running a ‘Eating well through life’ bite size training session looking at the newly updated ‘Eatwell Guide’ and key messages for healthy eating. The aim of the session is to provide an overview of the updated Eatwell Guide and what this means for the general population’s diet in Scotland. We will cover the key messages, key resources and key contacts for this area of work.
When: 31st August 2016 from 9-10.30 am at the Post Graduate Education Centre, Royal Infirmary Edinburgh.
Who: Anyone working in Lothian.
