Service Development Fund – Beach Wheelchairs North Berwick
North Berwick Community Centre Management Committee wishes to support a group to develop a community led scheme to loan paediatric and adult beach wheelchairs. Beach wheelchairs could be made available to people with restricted mobility who can’t at present get onto the beach. The group have carried out a local survey (over 100 respondents) and organised a ‘Come See, Come Try’ Day which attracted over 70 people. The group is preparing an operational plan including booking system, risk assessments to ensure health and safety. They have organised a public awareness event to attract more volunteers and interest in the scheme. The ‘Come and Try event’ was very successful generating enthusiasm, drive and passion for the project (BBC Radio covered the event). The project will include volunteer training to ensure protection of children and vulnerable adults, safe usage of the chairs, maintenance and storage. They wish to purchase 2 beach wheelchairs (1 adult, 1 paediatric) to test the scheme in North Berwick and provide insurance cover for storage and usage of beach wheelchairs.

Improving Health – What matters to you?
What Matters to You?
The Scottish Government is inviting you to have your say on what a healthier Scotland should look like in the next 10 to 15 years and the steps that could be taken to make this vision a reality.
From August 2015 to Spring 2016 we will be holding a national conversation on improving the health of the population and the future of health and social care services in Scotland
The first part of this will look at what issues really matter to you. To help get the conversation started we have developed 3 broad questions.
- What support do we need in Scotland to live healthier lives?
- What areas of health and social care matter most to you?
- Thinking about the future of health and social care services, where should our focus be?
You can join the conversation in a number of ways:
- Add a post or comment here or at the bottom of this page
- Add a post or comment under a previous discussion topic
- Follow us and drop your ideas on Twitter
- Please use the twitter hashtag #healthierscotland in your tweets!
- Like us and join the conversation on Facebook
- You can email us your ideas at healthier@gov.scot

Bookbug – it’s time for you to have your say!
Scottish Book Trust would like to know what professionals think about the Bookbug programme. To do this we would like to invite you to complete an online survey. The Bookbug programme is currently being evaluated by researchers from the Centre for Research on Families and Relationships, based at the University of Edinburgh. The evaluation is investigating what difference Bookbug makes to parents, children and early years professionals. As part of this evaluation we have developed an online survey for professionals whose work supports the delivery of Bookbug bags or Bookbug sessions. The survey will give us an overview of professionals’ views and experiences of the Bookbug Programme. In addition, findings from the survey will be used to help identify areas for further exploration in four case study areas for evaluation in 2016. The survey will take between 20–25 minutes to complete, depending on the level of detail that you provide. We are keen to hear your views but aware that your time is precious; please do not feel obliged to complete all of the boxes provided for additional comments. One lucky participant chosen at random will receive a bundle of books worth £100 to say thank-you for their time. We would also be grateful if you could send this link on to colleagues in your organisation and/or locality who have contact with Bookbug. The closing date for the survey is Friday 27th November 2015.
